It seems somebody at Dubai Municipality drew inspiration from Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven – having recently released rendered images and information about the soon-to-be ‘Dubai Steps’.

Another architectural wonder for the region, once finished, the steps will stand over 100 metres tall, with its location looking to be near Union Square near Deira.

Despite its unique structure, Dubai Municipality told Emarat Al Youm that the construction of the steps will only take a year to complete.

Once finished, there’ll be a total of 500 steps to climb on the tower – this will make for a great Rocky montage.

For reference, that’s a third of the amount of steps in the 443-metre Empire State Building, which takes around 45 minutes for the average person to climb.

Considering Dubai’s climate and the fact that the Dubai Steps are outdoors, we can’t imagine it’s going to be super busy during the summer.

The Dubai Municipality believe that the Dubai Steps will serve as a great location for a bunch of new sporting events and races.

The Dubai Steps were originally announced as part of Dubai Municipality’s six upcoming projects – including an egg-shaped convention centre in Al Jaddaf, the ‘Safari Golf’ golf academy, Dubai Vertical Industrial City in Al Layan, a 460,000 square feet Hardware and Bicycle Market in Al Warsan, as well as a network of sewage tunnels across the city.

The projects were all given the go ahead by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai in a visit he paid to the Dubai Municipality offices back in April this year.
